Links with Your Coffee – 7/22

My name in Matthew Hurst, and I’m a blogaholic. Just because I’ve been on vacation this week doesn’t mean I haven’t been kept reading local news online. And although I wasn’t really able to take Dodgeball for a test drive this week, here’s my digest of what I would have been up to if i were in town.
- It must be something in the water, but St. Louis residents are making allegiances. While Brick City lists things that won’t happen in town, our departing friends @ 15thWardSTL.org list 50 things they won’t miss about St. Louis.
- We’re sure you’ve heard about The Circuit by now, we were just waiting for LoFiSTL’s go ahead (cause you know, we’re discreet like that). For those of you who haven’t read about it already, think of it as a St. Louis centric social network, ‘cept one that integrates a lot of the things you do online already. And with the backing of TiRC. We got the point right away, and we hope you do too.
- And while you should have thanked Bill Streeter in person last night, you’ll just be joining the chorus of voices (including his own) congratulating Team Tomato. Our friends at Dividing by Zero have the details (and a whole bunch of videos from upcoming shows).
- According to our friends, St. Louis is supposed to be a bike city. Only problem is we’re having trouble finding a good bike in between car payments.
- A year after the windstorms you surely heard about during the Disaster Awareness Fair last night, comes this harrowing account of a neighborhood coming together. Wish I could’ve marched to support such neighborhoods.
- Like our friend Antonio, I’m eager to try out the YouTube effect as well.
- We almost missed the latest attempt to take away our public broadcasting. I mean it’s an understandable lapse in the absence of Ben Abell, but All Things Considered we’re glad our friends are hip to it too.
If you’ve read this far through the links, consider yourself a true public citizen, who can mark their spot in terrible graffiti (aka comments). Otherwise, we’ll be here next Sunday to freshen up your coffee with some links.
